Llyn Brianne…the tallest dam in the UK!

A visit to Llyn Brianne a few weeks ago was a real surprise. Having visited many times, this was the first time to see the spillway dry. It is truly a beautiful sight when the spillway is flowing consistently creating a ripple effect but to see it dry, was equally as mesmerising. While it’s uncertain exactly what repairs were being carried out at the time it was definitely fascinating to watch.

Whether you enjoy hiking, cycling or just a spot of wildlife watching Llyn Brianne can provide it all. Furthermore, it is now a Dark Sky Discovery Site. On clear nights the Milky Way can be seen by the naked eye, so if you’re a night owl or enjoy star gazing pop Llyn Brianne at the top of your ‘to do’ list.
